Issue 04 Launch Party
Celebrate the release of 04 with poetry editor John Hennessy, contributors, and special guests, including Richard Wilbur, the subject of Robert Bagg‘s “The Poet in Rome,” and South African literature expert Stephen Clingman, who will introduce the issue’s anthology of South African poetry. Conversations and Connections Philadelphia 2012
The Common will be one of the featured journals at this year’s Conversations and Connections Conference, held for the first time In Philadelphia, PA. Organized by Barrelhouse, a DC based literary magazine and arts organization, the conference brings together an eclectic mix of writers, editors, and publishers for an all day event of panel discussions, craft workshops, guest speakers, including keynote Stewart O’Nan and featured panelists Ken Kalfus, Paul Lisicky, Don Lee, Katie Ford, Josh Emmons, Laura van den Berg, and Andrew Ervin. Among the other participating journals are Artichoke Haircut, Barrelhouse, the Believer, Big Lucks, StoryQuarterly, Gigantic Sequins, Painted Bride Quarterly, Cobalt, Eyeshot, Philadelphia Stories, Three Quarters Review, and Northville Review.

The Brooklyn Book Festival

The Brooklyn Book Festival is the largest free literary event in New York City, presenting an array of national and international literary stars and emerging authors.
Reading Period Opens
The reading period for fiction, nonfiction, and poetry will reopen on September 1, 2012, and close on December 1, 2012.
